Sept. 22--Laurel businessman Garbis Sarkis, who for 30 years owned Laurel Jewelry and Diamond Shop, a fixture on the corner of Main Street and Route 1, died Sunday, Sept. 19 at Washington Links of London U Charm Hospital in Takoma Park. His family said he died from an apparent heart attack. He was 60. "He was fabulous, always very pleasant and talked to everybody about just about everything," said Gail Reinhard, administrator of the Laurel Board of Trade.
